I was at an Airbnb over the weekend and they had a smart deadbolt on the door, and a Wink hub which I had never seen before.

Upon quick googling, I found that it's apparently a central controller for all different brands of smart home products. It also can coordinate actions/automation, or "robots," between multiple brands from one screen (from what I read, anyway)

Has anybody used this? Is there an open source alternative that I could put on a VM in my home lab? I would love to not have to have a separate app for every brand.

Also, I know that Google Home and Alexa can allow you to control multiple devices like this, but I only have one Google Home right now, and I haven't used the app at all, other than the initial setup. Can the Google Home app coordinate devices and automation like the Wink?

The only open source alternative is called Things Gateway.
          https://iot.mozilla.org/gateway/

They also have a list of supported hardware too.

Wink didn't meet my needs for home automation. I will be creating a thread on what I use, eventually.

@black3dynamite This is very neat, i like the extend-ability it seems to offer. The problem with all this IoT stuff to me seems like there is no standards. Every company has their own implementation and their stuff only works with their stuff. This project from Mozilla seems to be trying to expand interoperability and compatibility across manufacturers/brand names.
