      Hi all,

Since we moved all our offices to our parent company's MPLS line, we are looking into a secure syncing tool which syncs our head office file server to branch office network drives, and users could access it locally as mapped drive from each office. Checked bittorrent sync, but read mixed reviews about the security factor.

Do you guys use any similar solution?

Is the purpose just for quicker access of files or backup or...what's the objective here?

Are you on Windows? DFS would be the normal answer there.

Or use BranchCache is you have the licensing for it.

@ajstringham The purpose is quicker file access.

@scottalanmiller We could use DFS, but they have a global AD migration plan going on, and so we will at some point get all migrated to their AD. ]

So I am looking at a standalone solution which will be used to sync our network drive to branch offices nas

I could suggest BranchCache to them and see if they agree on implementing it

Move up the timeframe for the AD implementation, then use DFS.

@alexntg I have no control on the decision on AD rollout but can suggest this to them. Thanks!

I can't speak for all companies, but in most acquisitions, if the acquired company actively tries to integrate into the parent company's structure, it's viewed as a very good thing.

Syncing NAS units for read/write at all locations is very tough. There are few solutions for this. Microsoft has a few options internally for this and stands out as a rare case in the industry.

Oh, it's a NAS? If it's a Synology, you can use Cloud Station to sync files in a Dropbox-esque manner with the NAS.

I am in touch with http://www.accellion.com/ and checking at the Kite works enterprise. The parent company is using a product from this, but with limited storage space, but since they already use a product from accellion, I believe getting this approved would be much easier than introducing anything new. Got in touch with the local distributer and they agreed to give us a 15 days demo so we can test this in realtime. Its a software appliance which works with vmware/hyperv. Will share more details after the demo
