As predicted, the product is dead.

It seems alive if we pay for the standard or enterprise.

That's what I said... dead. Citrix doesn't believe in it anymore.

Uh, you literally just removed features. How about just not removing them, then you don't need to add anything......

They actually called it "continuing to invest" as they explain their devesting process.

That isn't even that big of a cost, granted free is great, but support is even better.

They are just coming out with lies to keep the public hopeful and to keep themselves from going under too quickly.

Yeah, it's not even plausible excuses. Basically they know that if they say anything, no matter how ridiculous, their user base will use it to defend them and they can milk it for longer. But bottom line, it's been over for a while, and now it is just that much more obvious. But we were already predicting this decline.

The sad part is that XAPI seems to be going with them. But the question has long been... does anyone care about XAPI?

              Crap,
My XenServer home lab is running nice. Looks like I have a New Year's project.

The options are KVM, Hyper-V or ESXi, and based on my experiences with KVM and their lack of hypervisor level backups leaves me greatly wanting.

I haven't really had time to check.
Can I easily move my VM's from XenServer to KVM?

Edit: If I use Veeam agent to create ISO's & backups, I should be ok. I'm guessing.

I'll have to test this in my lab as well. Of course it means I'll have to tear down my lab to test.

Veeam doesn't work on modern Linux OSs, last I checked. You need to use an old out-dated version of Linux to use Veeam agent.

                        At least with Fedora.

There was a python script I had used at one point to convert xva files to qcow2. It was just easier to rebuild, but I do all Linux based stuff so I don't know how easy or hard Windows would be.

Crap news about Xenserver, Scott was pretty bang on with how this was going to end up, such a shame as I've loved using Xenserver...

Veeam Endpoint Backup is not functional on Fedora 26+ Maybe 25+ I lost track.

It is buried in a thread here somewhere.

I used it with Ubuntu 16.04 server and it worked just fine. I backed up the machine and restored it to a new virtual machine.

I don't use Ubuntu in any circumstances that would require being backed up.

It must be a Fedora thing.

                                        Anyone try CentOS?

Distro with slow releases seems to be the easiest for Veeam to support.
