The rest of my gear is manageable by Unifi. It's a bit weird my one device that does DPI and edge services isn't.
From that point of view, if that is all you need from the router, the USG is a perfectly valid choice for you.

Really I'm going to keep it as my base layer 4 edge device and likely put an inline IPS system here (Palo Alto currently winning).

For you UBNT experts...when do you use the ERL vs ERX? (short answer is ok)

ERL is my go-to. I have many of them deployed. Don't need the switch ports that are available on the ERX.

ERX sometimes for home. Basically I always use the ERL.

No switch, no PoE, more power for the routing. I don't want all that extra stuff in my router.

I use them in both scenarios. I too just need a plain router. Don't need the other features.

Well certainly not ERX. Normally you want rack mount in a colo, so ERP.
