      Video content, did not watch.

Guy didn't know how to set the timezone on a Windows system, and jumped the conclusion that Microsoft just royally screwed up / couldn't figure out time zones, and gave up.

I agree that they are not crazy but certain decisions might be questionable.

Holy crap - Scott and I agree on Vista. I stayed on Vista Sp1 for at least 1 year after Win7 came out.

I actually bought Vista Ultimate, but mostly because it came with a free upgrade/coupon for Windows 7 Ultimate 🙂

At the bank we used Vista for a really long time.

I only moved away from Vista on my work PC (had Windows 7 at home) because my HD died. There wasn't compelling reasons to move yet.

I agree Jared. I am much less likely to watch video content instead of reading. Especially when it is topic that I am not super excited about.

I do agree with the rest.

Most posts around here can be read in 1-3 mins. Most of these videos are more like 5 mins long. That alone makes it really hard to hit and run.

I also do a lot of my consumption of ML while waiting at places away from my office, so I can read on my phone, but not listen to/watch videos.

I didn't mind it. I think one of the big problems was not only the interface change but the system requirements change. People tried to upgrade their old 512MB RAM systems and left Aero and all of the fancy turned on.

Constantly... and I was in high school at that time.

Maybe an audio to text tool is a decent compromise?

Ya. My dad had a small side shop and we saw it a good bit.

Yes, and it was a long gap after XP so XP was incredibly entrenched. And XP has replaced Win2K which had only been out for two years tops and had no consumer version and wasn't very good. And lots of users were coming from DOS. And many from NT4 who had skipped Win2K because it was so bad. So XP had nearly 100% penetration when Vista came out and with Vista being a new interface, new kernel.... it was going to have a rough time of it.

It was a pretty normal thing back then. People were into that stuff.
