So this just occurred to me, but the service provider (MSP / ITSP) model is a bit like applying virtualization to business cases, right? Think about it, just like with virtualization for servers we look at service providers or outsourcing IT as an "it's all benefits" approach, right? Like with virtualization there is technically a small amount of additional overhead, but this is potentially nominal (as long as both specific applications are good) and the structural layers around it are conceptually beneficial. Just like with virtualization, MSPs can add flexibility, scalability, agility, speed and help take short, disruptive cycles and make them long.

I was talking to someone about virtualization just now and the idea that the two were conceptually related just hit me.
