I've been looking through the forums to find an install guide that is already completed for a NextCloud install on either CentOS7 or Ubuntu. Is there one here in the community? If so, I cant find it. This would be a brand new install, not migrating from owncloud or upgrading.

I don't believe that there is one, yet.

I thought @jospoortvliet had posted a guide at one point?

Bummer. Any recommendations on CentOS VS Ubuntu server for this install?

There are no solid guides posted on here.

There are guides out there, but like many new project guides, they assume decent level of skill with the core OS.

No problem. The admin guide for NextCloud looks like it's pretty decent. I just thought I'd check here first before I go through the process myself.

I will get to it sometime soon myself, but i have higher priority issues and I am not really in a hurry because the project is barely 3 months old.

This is just for my home network. I'm mainly looking for a place to access all of our shared pictures from our phones, DSLR, etc. Bonus if the program can automatically upload from our phone cameras. In this case, it looks like NextCloud can do just that. Looking forward to getting this up and running.

I've tried a couple of the popular online photo places, and none of them really fit the need/want that I have. I currently have my entire photo library in Aperture. (the Apple program) I would be happy to move the library somewhere else, especially since Apple killed off Aperture more than a year ago already. However, I haven't found a replacement that fits our needs: A photo organizer/database, with built in "pro" grade photo editing. Aperture fits these requirements, and I've tried a couple others, but they just didn't fit the bill. Maybe I'm too picky, or just looking in the wrong places.

Wondering - how does NextCloud fit the bill?

Sounds like you'd like the Adobe Cloud - online storage (20GB) and the Adobe Suite $50/month

It's the built in editing that is the issue. I prefer to keep editing and storage separate.

Next cloud would fit 1/2 of it.(photo storage and auto upload from phones) However, I'd still need photo editing software, and I'm sure I can find Open source something to fit that piece of it.

No way would I pay for Adobe cloud.

Yep, I was going to suggest just that.

Haha, I was in the middle of posting NO to GIMP as you were posting. 🙂 That's too complex for our needs. This needs to be wife friendly as well.

                                            Paint.net? I think that's open source.
