Just got the dates for "Tech Fest"
Looks like this fall i may end up in Dallas for a few days!

@scottalanmiller I think we need a MangoMeetup coincidentally around the same time. Think that could happen?

        What are the dates?

        October 3-5

That is the week before SpiceWorld.

@jt1001001 is that 48 port switch 1gbe poe?

          Nortel 4550T-PWR is a 10/100 PoE switch.

The Nortel name alone means it is older than fuck.

@jaredbusch exactly no idea where the pulled it from, manufacturer date's 2007; we replaced all our switches in 2010 and again 2-3 years ago

13 year old was asking for book recommendations. I'm torn between recommending the Thrawn trilogy and protecting her from the heartbreak of knowing how good episodes 7-9 could have been.

The one(s) by Timothy Zahn? So much better than what's on the boob tube.

I totally understand. That was such a good trilogy.

USGS is not a bad section of the federal government to work for. I knew (casual acquaintance) a few people there in the St. Louis area. No idea if they are still there or not.

                                    But that description is horrible.

USGS would definitely be a place I'd be more willing to look than most. But yeah.

I was going to play with shrinking a filesystem and a LVM volume only to discover XFS can't be shrunk. Back to EXT4 for the moment. 🙂

That's because shrinking a filesystem isn't really something you want to be doing in production outside of the most extremely rare circumstance.

I agree. I couldn’t think of a good reason to do it, other than wanting to see how it can be done.
