Going LANless has a ton of advantages

I have tried to introduce a lot of things and my boss essentially told me to stop because nothing will ever be implemented. Then on my review one of the questions was what new technology I have brought into my company.

You reply with “solution X” but it was rejected by “person Y”

I did in the comment section of my review

One thing at a time. Can't change two things at once or we won't know what is or isn't working.

@Obsolesce Haven't tried it by running it directly as SYSTEM, it has been run as a user and checked to be run with the highest privileges. As it was when it was working before.

So we did an older restore and the issue was resolved. This error was caused by ransomware.

      Always wait these out.

The only time I wouldn’t is if I have a snapshot pre update that failed and just revert to it.

I have some warnings and errors in the event viewer that I'm going through now. Is there any reason to have IPv6 enabled if we're not using it? A lot of warnings in there about IP6 supposed to be static only.

I wouldn't disable ipv6 unless you are unable to find and fix the real root cause of an issue in which disabling ipv6 may mask.

@jimmy9008 said in Domain Trust failed on a VM:

Disconnect the VM from the virtual NIC. Reboot VM from host management. Connect to VM from host management (the VM is now not on the network). Login with domain admin creds. This will be allowed as 'offline login/admin'.

Then put the VM back on to the network whilst logged on and rejoin the VM back to the domain. Then restart. Easy.

Rejoining to the domain will create a new SID. Not sure if that would cause issues for the CA in AD.

Sorry for the confusion- its a development server, but i still need to make sure that these are updated with minimal downtime. I am trying to push the AD changes to some other time at least wait for the dev team to complete the tasks in hand, but not very sure if they will stop it just for us

Right on - but from what I understand, and from what I have downloaded, this is a linux machine, and it ties into the Windows Server, somehow... not sure, still studying..

The easiest way to do it would be to mount the windows share on the ownCloud box and make that the repository.

Having not tried to integratge AD let alone pass permissions, I have no idea how well this would work.

Pertino does now have the iOS app and would simply pass AD auth.

The Pertino Android app was broken with ICS or KitKat (I forget which). I have not tested if they fixed it yet with the new 420 release. The other problem with Android is apparently some changes in what 3rd party apps are allowed to write to. As long as you are pulling it down live you would be fine, but there seemed to be new security issues with writing to SD.

Completely understandable! We only had to deal with fairly typical morning sickness for both of my wife's pregnancies. I count myself so lucky on that front. I have known many people with varying issues.

Not at present. You can, however, use the same RAS servers for VPN. Perhaps if/when Macs gain more traction in the mainstream business market, we'll see that shift.
