Thanks to all who came. I still say @scottalanmiller should give a talk about open source projects, the various ways they receive funding, and why that likely makes them more feature rich than monetized offerings. That would be a really good one.
The book that we discussed was: The Cathedral and the Bazaar
Thanks - I'll add that to the reading list. I'm sad it isn't on Audible. That seems to be my consumption method of choice these days.
Will they let me in this time? I'd like to come up, but the Makerspace is very unwelcoming. Remember they turned me away last time that I showed up there.
Probably effects of the inifiban he got from the mothership.
No, this was a year ago and unrelated to Spiceworks. This was purely about the MakerSpace. No one was allowed in when I was there. I was a few minutes late, so however the other people got in, was closed off when I arrived.
@Marc92 just told me that they got in and are having the meeting, but it is behind the "you can't go in" barrier. So there wasn't a way to get to it. I guess if you were there a little earlier there was a way in or something. It was only at 6:30 and I was there about 6:55 and there was already no way to get into the Maker Space if you weren't on a tour with a very long wait. And they were waiting for new computers to be brought out to get digital waivers signed. So they were closed indefinitely while having a technical glitch, but that might have only taken a second. But I asked, they said no Spicecorps. So no reason for me to think that waiting an hour to get in deeper to the facility would gain me anything.
