I just bought a new Dell Inspiron for one of our part time workers that has a flip capability. I doubt she will ever use it that way.

Even Google admits, they don't make enough, or market these for the general public. Something like 80% of the ones they build stay internal to Google. That all being said, I would LOVE to have one. They are not trying to compete with Apple laptops, so you can't really compare them.

This has really been a long time coming. X11 is very old and a lot of people have been trying to figure out how to get this replaced. Probably makes sense that Google really just took the lead on this.

I ran through a Ruby on Rails tutorial using Cloud9 awhile ago and I was impressed. They have a good thing going on over there.

Anyone else adding Chromebooks or Chromeboxes to their lineup recently?

It makes sense as both have a lot of stack in the Chromebook game. Intel wants to move processors and AMD is currently weak in the Chromebook space (but for how long) and Samsung is very strong in the CB space while being weak in the traditional laptop space. So they both want to see Chromebooks succeeding for their own reasons.

The Chromebook market has done an excellent job of making really nice, attractive, low cost laptops. Why no one else is making stuff as nice is anyone's guess. If I was a sub $300 laptop that looks and works great, I have very few options. But if I go to the Chromebook world suddenly I am overspending at that price!

One of the hardest things that I have found about getting people to try out something like this is actually that it is all too easy. Literally everything works so well and is so easy to do that it comes off as confusing coming from the Windows or Mac worlds. Even normal Linux is often "too easy" and ends up being confusing for that very reason.

This has been speculated about for quite some time. Makes a lot of sense.
