I would play... but I'm not sure how it would be going back to vanilla minecraft... I've been playing modded minecraft for way too long.

My six year old is going to be all over this.

Bukkit it is then! @AmanBhogal are you still willing to host for us? I would be happy to manage it under my account for the ML community.
-
Got my other Dev1 setup not sure what I'll do with it just yet.
-
He's definitely getting it for us. He had to wait because they were updating their Minecraft build and they wanted us running the latest.

Clodatcost Minecraft Server for ML? Let's do it!
I spoke with Aaron and he will be heading the minecraft server.. I provided him the information.
Keep in mind, we are still refining our Minecraft offering. but this is an awesome way to learn how we can do better!

I run mine on CentOS6.5... really whatever uses very few system resources and can run Java.
-
I should have know that it is Java. CentOS 7 is probably ideal then. I'm guessing that manually pulling down the latest Oracle Java is probably more important than the OS choice.

As far as I know that is correct. In the past they had compatibility issues with some Java versions but that was way back in the day when Bukkit first started.

It is a resource hog and leaks memory like a sieve... There was an attempt to write the Minecraft Server in C++ and I want to say Python, but neither of those got very far.

What's worse is I think you need Java on the client side too.
