Just got our Internet hooked up today at the new house. For those wondering what the cost of Internet is down here...

Wow, that's a lot faster than what I have. With all those inclusions, I expected it to be a lot more per month.

The more you include, the cheaper it gets! Literally, they PAY you to get television and phones here. If you remove them, the price goes up a little. So everyone gets them.
We can get 500/50, I think, for like $92 but we didn't want to pay that much.

Ended up in the ER until 3 in the morning, got there at 7:30 ish. after waiting in excruciating pain in a wheel chair (cause I could barely walk) for almost 3.5hours I got back to a room, another 2 and i finally got meds, Doctors are thinking it's a slipped disc, but I refused to do an MRI for couple reasons, 1. there were 12 people in front of me, (roughly 9-hour wait) and 2. I'm not paying out of pocket for an MRI that's just too much money. the doctor even said it's expensive. Home with new "how to care for this issue" paperwork and waiting to hear back on follow-up appointment happy friday eve
Damn, just saw this
it wasn't a fun time that's for sure. stil in a lot of pain

Pardon the geek out, but happy with a successful email send tonight...
What is so special about sending an email? Only that it was using AX.25 over VHF on 145.030MHz using a fifteen year old radio.. message travel about forty miles before it hit another computer then the internet....

upgrading Linode VM to Fedora 37

@gjacobse nice

I'm actually in the office today... yuck. But I guess I can work on the ever-growing junk pile. And if I get really bored, I might just work on some documentation.

@siringo oh here it is!

i've been thinking of some not so happy stuff.
been thinking about all my accounts for this n that, that are secured by 2FA and even just passwords.
why? well been thinking about how people that need to, will be able to access my email (mostly) should I get by that bus.
everything goes to my email, bills, insurance, superannuation, contracts blah blah blah.
2FA has made this very hard.
EG, you get hit by a bus, grief and sorrow abound. People that need access, need to get info about your insurances, it gets sent to your email. They don't know your password, your cell/mobile phone has been smashed so they can't use your auth app, if they even know about that stuff.
What a bloody nightmare.
You can make this simpler, but even simple isn't simple enough when you're in mourning.
I'm starting to wind back my 2FA security on some things, life and the devices we take for granted, is becoming way too complex IMO.

been looking for a single supplier that provides email hosting and about 100GB of online storage for a reasonable price.
Google gives you email and 30GB
MS365 gives you 1TB storage but doesn't accept .exe files
Zoho doesn't give you storage (outside of the email storage)any suggestions??

My Lastpass vault automatically passes access on after 30 days of inactivity on my part, which includes the key for my Authy 2FA app.

@travisdh1 that's a good idea.
I know it's a shipt topic, but ....
I can remember the trouble my mum had when dad passed away & there's been a few folks who are friends of friends who have died suddenly, just makes you think....

For sure.
We kind of have to consider these things professionally, I just used the easiest method of dealing with things in my personal life as well.

Finally updated my laptop. Now running Fedora 37, and have a few Steam games installing. So much easier than previous versions of Fedora I tried Steam on.

My Mom often tells me about where she has passwords/account numbers/etc written down and locked in a safe. Morbid but necessary shit. I had to think about it myself when I spent 3 weeks in hospital. Nobody would be able to get into anything of mine, personal or work.
