          Yes... we have been running the "newest kernel" available for the last years.. currently eLux is on 5.4.x... Advantages is newest hardware support , and much better power managent for our laptop...

          disadvantages... is third party kernel stuff using DKMS may not work at first try.... we had quite some trouble with the open source evdi.ko to support DisplayLink device with mobile thin client latops, which must be a "complete workstation" at the office with all the required headset , busylight and triple monitors, and just a normal laptops when brought home...

          but a new kernel , and using older "compatible" libaries... is much preferred than to stay on an old kernel...

            That is nice, all the time when updating images is that kernel that gets the most updates.
