@stacksofplates I think I can answer some of that at least 🙂 I have to use it some too. At least its what I manage so I have to open it every now and then. Anyway I just think a lot of people have never tried anything else and they are not learners so don't care to try anything else. Windows isn't horrible, it just does things so much differently than better OS's. Those things it does differently all happen to make the OS less efficient. I'm referring to lack of good shell, registry database, and of course the dreaded update system. I think that users who like Windows just don't deal with those issues at all and never see them. I think there is also a lot less innovation in Windows as well. Just my 2 cents.

Yes, and also because Windows is the OS used in the majority of businesses, schools, colleges etc. People don't know or care about computers, if they could get onto FB and watch videos on a wet soggy sponge they'd all be using wet soggy sponges.

They have no interest in computers so just use what they already know plus the kid down the street can fix the damn thing if it breaks.

What's amazing isn't that people are so useless, but why do companies employ people who are so useless. Sometimes it makes sense, but not in the quantities that they do.

I have to use Windows at work and it makes me want to throw up. I don't know how to use it at all.

I don't get why people want to use it. It's prob not bad, I just don't understand it lol.

No, it's bad. We support so much of it and I had this conversation with so many companies just today.... why would anyone choose this mess. Every one of the customers spends a fortune and gets less than if they didn't. It's just madness.

Thankfully, it looks like we have companies really considering switching in huge numbers.

MS has really gone after the hearts and minds of people through educational institutions. People tend to go with what’s comfortable. If the learned on it, it’s easier to stick with that even if it costs more.

        Convenience over sense

Why are they useless? Is it because they have no interest in computers? I think that is quite normal. Why would everyone be interested in computers?

You may like to qualify your statement?

I don't expect anyone to have an interest in anything other than things that interest them.

You're not displaying the IT equivalent of religious extremism I hope and saying that anyone not interested in computers is an IT infidel.

So it bypasses the system DNS settings?

I foresee issues from a lot of users in the future.

Pi-Hole is bypassed when DNS over HTTPS is enabled.

You don't need to forsee it - it's already happening. And all browsers are talking about adding it, though they have relented - IF the system's DNS supports DNS over HTTPS, the browser will use it, if not, by default the browser will use cloudflare or some other DNS they choose.

Of course admins can change this behavior.

Yes, FireFox will detect if the DNS server Windows is using supports DNS over HTTPS, if it does, the FF will use it, if it doesn't, and the option is left as default (use DoH) it will use CF or one of it's own other options.

I think this is upstream to a DoH provider only, it's not the Pi providing DoH to it's clients, at least that's how I read it.
