Storage (is it better to run a raid?)

      Not really.

@scottalanmiller okay, didn't know if that would help with being able to perform faster. What size SSD would be good then?

You can get a 1TB one cheap, then there will be plenty of storage for all the games.

Not really, lol, I mean about the storage. I'm looking at my 1TB ssd and asking myself how the hell I managed to nearly fill it. . .

Do they have anything at all to reuse? Case, power supply, SSD? Because sometimes you can get significantly more powerful components when you can save a few hundred on stuff like that.

Who needs a computer case? Just pizza-box that sucker and move on.

Really depends on the gamer. My game library takes about 3TB.

Goes SO fast with games. When you get games that are 50GB each, it doesn't take many to use a lot of space really quickly.

Think brings me back to my family PC having a 40 GB hard drive and that was a lot in its day

@scottalanmiller what about like a 1TB in the computer and then getting like an external to hold storage??

                              No. . .

Just get a bigger SSD rather than wasting money on external components that are going to be slower.

External doesn't work so well because it's cumbersome, slow, and easy to unhook which will mess with a library. Ideally for gaming you want really fast storage. With Steam you'll even notice that looking at your library can be a problem on a slow drive.

My rule of thumb is when asked.

                                          1. Whats the budget
                                          2. What game(s) do they want to play

If Graphics card required to play at playable res and frame rate costs more than a console and the game is available on console THEN go console 😄

But knowing what they expect from the systems helps, as their expectations on what they can run off £300 may differ from what anyone can build.
