There isn't enough coffee in the world to deal with the crap I'm dealing with before we leave for 2 weeks.

      Where are you leaving for?

Year end break, our office closes down, paid 2 weeks off.

currently laughing to myself as my coworker and lead tech talk to an ISP : they replaced the router and now the site cant get to the internet.
They don't know that I know How to fix it or that I can fix it... cause lead tech (boss who seemed to have been demoted from Hospitality manager..) so I'm just laughing to myself and shaking my head...

Makes me appreciate the place I'm currently working at. I was told straight up "I hired you because you're better than I am."

Correction: The site can be accessed via RDP.
Sooooo... the issue is that it can't browse the internet. but we can connect into it.

I was hired because they needed a body in the chair to do as they say. not as they know.

Which means that the internet is working; they apparently opened up the sonic wall completely for the time being so they can test the internet.. which tells me (correct me if I'm wrong) that the Router is the cause of the issue.

That's a bad way to phrase it. What does "can't browser the Internet" mean to you here? That RDP works means that Internet access is working. So routing is guaranteed to be okay.

Firewall could be an issue. But most often it's just DNS is wrong and people are only testing web browsing with DNS involved and RDP without DNS involved. Go to a website without using DNS and see what is up.

Or better, use tools like ping and nslookup, always start there, tells you nearly everything right away rather than running around trying to interpret second hand symptoms.

Right now, I’m just becoming familiar with just creating physical volumes, volume groups, and small logical volumes from a group. One thing I am curious though is how (if) a physical volume failure is handled.

If you have three physical volumes and one is bad.
                                    /dev/sda1 (bad)
                                    /dev/sdb1
                                    /dev/sdc1

                                    # If possible, move data from bad drive.
                                    pvmove /dev/sda1

                                    -OR-

                                    pvmove /dev/sda1 /dev/sdb1

                                    # Remove the bad drive
                                    vgreduce <volumegroupname> /dev/sda1

Man, I've not seen CBT Nuggets in forever. Back in 2001, they were the BEST. I used them so much. Loved that stuff.
