      New install of F29.

Install hangs up at this point.

In layman's terms, what is going on at this stage of the install?

I've seen this a few times, particularly with units that have nVidia GPU's where the drivers aren't installed.

@FATeknollogee Typically, I find a corrupted download borked the installer if it hangs at any point in the boot process when installing.

What it's doing right then specifically, I'm not sure. I could take a couple educated guesses, but they'd just be guesses.

            I don't have a GPU.

@travisdh1 This is affecting both F29 and F28. The likelihood of both downloads being messed up I find unlikely.

@FATeknollogee have you checked the checksum of both downloads to confirm they match what the source has listed?

                I tried F29 and F28 iso's...same problem.
Maybe I should try burning the iso with Rufus instead of Fedora Media Writer?

Have you performed a hardware diag? Maybe your RAM or CPU is causing issues.

                    That shouldn't make a difference.

I'd go down that road first and at least perform a memory test to see if there are any issues.

Here are some troubleshooting steps provided by the Fedora Project.

@FATeknollogee So start with the basic troubleshooting. Confirm the checksums match, test the media (from the installation screen there), perform a memtest and other basic hardware troubleshooting steps.

This board isn't particularly old so I don't think you're having a compatibility issue.

@FATeknollogee I always use Rufus. I don't know if that could possibly be the issue or not but I have never had an issue with it before.

No, you are at a point where you know that the burn worked.

SuperMicro only lists compatibility on that board to Fedora 23. But that's likely just because it is old.

There is a decent chance that the kernel that you have here is just too new. Might be worth going to CentOS for this hardware.

When things are hung, can you hit Ctrl+Alt-F2 and see if you can get to a console?
