What Are You Doing Right Now

Friggin' FINALLY got Comcrap to come out and replace the cable between the pole and my house. They had been trying to charge me to send a tech, I told them to shove that nonsense because I know exactly what the issue is. Turns out I was 1000% correct, so no charge for the tech call.
Cool, what was it?

I would still keep an eye on your bill.
I always do, because I certainly expect them to try it. Also going to make sure the 2 weeks sans connection are properly credited.

Lightning struck 2 houses down, zapped the cable all the way to the house (as well as my modem and wifi router). When a new modem can't get a signal, I know what the issue is. Especially when there is no "inside wiring"... the cable comes from the pole to the corner of my roof, then down to floor level, where the previous owners just drilled a hole through the wall and stuck the coax through. Literally 2 feet of coax sticking out of the baseboard.

Literally 2 feet oc coax sticking out of the baseboard.
If you want to fix it right, now's the time, lol.

I'll probably put in a jack plate, but I'll still have a hole in the wall.

A little drywall mud would patch the hole.

Lol direct from the pole through a hole in the wall? Not even grounded?
If that's the case, they owe you a modem, yes?

If I had been renting one of theirs, sure. My Surfboard was getting a bit long in the tooth anyway.

Mine was a 4 or 5 year old Arris. But my new one is DOCSIS 3.1 and all that good stuff.

Got Sucked Into an email thread to end out the day.
-
Thought I'd put some twitch.tv on in the background, and apparently everybody is playing the new expansion to World of Warcraft Online.
-
It's been a long day for me, I typed
systemctl restart salt-minion
instead ofRestart-Service salt-minion
in Windows. -
Holding my daughter while she gets ready for bed.

@dustinb3403 My boy can never keep his pacifier in his mouth. The damn thing becomes a projectile, or he slaps it out of his mouth and then now it's all that drooling he does.
-
@black3dynamite she does really well with her pacifier. From day 1, when she isn't eating (or completely asleep) it's in her mouth. Unless of course if she doesn't want it.
Then she just tongue it out.

Still 'processing' the afternoon.
After a 'slow' day of training,.. I decided that since I was out early (2pm as opposed to 4pm) I made a run to the dealership since the noise was back in the front end.
DAMN GOOD THING I did. turns out the inner brake pad was toast.. Like major. The outter was still at 7-8mm,.. but the inner - GONE.
Oh,.. also to boot... the caliber is scarp. Seem the seal on it is blown - and just to cover bases... yup. the other side is gone too.
So - Unexpected expense after just starting a new job. That blows to the amount of $700.00. Jeez-o-pete.
Well.... the "up"side is that I got a 2018 model with just 13 miles to drive for the next few days....
After dropping $600 on the HVAC - I so didn't need this.
-
Hanging out with the family.
-
freaking out wondering what I should be doing next, this that or just go home?
