@scottalanmiller I found myself questioning the need for vlans a few months back when I was upgrading my office network with new switches. I ended up just configuring port security and turning off other ports that were not in use. Tried to keep it simple and so far that's worked better. Good write up.

well i know I am a fan of this.
The only VLANS I use are on WiFi (Private/Public). I keep it simple and use port based VLAN on the switch and separate a few ports out for the access points.

After being part of a huge Cisco partner MSP for a couple years and being part of several overly complex network designs, I too am a fan of keeping it simple. You avoid so many network gremlins, design/deployment is much simpler, and come on, can't beat the speed.

It's been my old school thinking, but I guess I need to give up the 256 node subnets.
