Progressive has been great with me, I am paying same rate with probably 5 to 10 dollars up from when I started 8 years ago. not bad.

Progressive just did the rate hike business with us. We're going to start looking at a different provider.

Do you have home insurance with it bundled up?

No, tried to but they wouldn't ensure our late 1800's farm house. We've since sold it and will be looking to bundle our new home (when we purchase it) with whomever we have our auto insurance through.

Yeah, that will give you some cost savings.

I'm considering dropping home insurnace completely. Has anyone, in the history of the world, ever made out from having their home insured? I doubt it.

You must own your home fully? Insurance is generally a requirement with a mortgage.

It is a requirement, not just generally. It's required that you insure the mortgage value at a minimum.

You'd be surprised. Most insurance companies are going to tell you that this was a natural disaster and not generally covered, they will refer you to FEMA. Happened in Florida after the Hurricanes.

Most banks require it. I know of one credit union that doesn't around here.

Quite the opposite, they are all screwed, just like the people in Houston. Pay for insurance instead of saving money to fix your destroyed house. Now they have no homes AND no money!

That's PMI normally, not home owners insurance.

I assume some people in California would easily disagree with you.

You'd be surprised. Most insurance companies are going to tell you that this was a natural disaster and not generally covered, they will refer you to FEMA. Happened in Florida after the Hurricanes.

My family in Texas is dealing with this right now. And only the rich get FEMA. If you are a six figure income household and call FEMA, the money is there immediately. If you are poor minority group in Houst, screw you, you are getting nothing.

I'm considering dropping home insurnace completely. Has anyone, in the history of the world, ever made out from having their home insured? I doubt it.

Same in Florida. The money seems to flow downhill and runs out long before it hits the bottom. No idea how that makes sense as the entire point of FEMA was to do the exact opposite. Corruption I guess.

Yup. Most likely it is that they know that the rich can and will sue them if they don't give them the money, and they figure that the poor will be powerless to do anything about it. Basically the same as everything in our legal system.

ML is going to go down for over an hour tonight. Friday night is our slow night once traffic drops off. We are getting new and beefier hardware and moving over to it. Same datacenter, just growing some and getting updated. Just don't want anyone surprised if we are offline some tonight, it's a planned outage and, in theory, will not take too long. Save up your questions, comments, and cat pics to post once we come back online.
