@dashrender No, I can do this but I have also two Vizio 4k compatible TVs with Chromecast and other services that comes with it. I can change to whatever I want from there.

@scottalanmiller Kodi is a media player but the Exodus package for the app is illegal due to the fact that Movies and Shows are released without payment and is kinda off BitTorrent p2p video streaming.

But that's not Kodi. There are loads of things you shouldn't install on Windows too, but that doesn't make Windows itself illegal.

@scottalanmiller Correct, it is noted that is a plugin outside of Kodi and that is not part of it. So yeah you can use Kodi without any problem.

We have cell phones and internet, Netflix and Amazon Prime. The little we are able to use any of them, they are more than enough. If anything else, Kodi works nicely too. Honestly we could get by without Netflix, but it's nice to have their children's channel or whatever it's called.

i've never dived into the illegalness that is Kodi.

Kodi is great and nothing about it is illegal. It's like a software Roku times 1000 that you can put on almost any device.

Lots of good free legal stuff for it. I never mentioned any illegal intentions.

Lots of illegal stuff too, but same applies to anything.

Thanks for the clarification. Kodi it just a player.. i haven't dug into it enough to know the Exodus packages it the illegal part.

For me it's stop using SKY so instead of paying them £50/month we now only watch FREE to AIR TV Via a freesat type box.

For those that have mentioned Kodi, as @scottalanmiller and other mentioned Kodi itself is a Media Player, but there are many addons that will stream premium content that you're meant to pay for. BUT I believe there are some that will stream the free stuff to. I'm looking at this currently, one to have everything in one "box" as I use a Android box with Kodi to stream my content I have bought, but would also like it to watch live TV. two to get rid of obsolete boxes on the unit and to save power.

We simply pay for the services we want that have the shows we like. Primarily Netflix and Hulu right now. No need for anything else, really.

I am very interested in using DAZN which is a german streaming sports service. Of course, it isn't available in the US, so I would have to use VPN.

Is anyone using it, here? I believe it is 20 euros a month.

Just Netflix and Amazon here, we dropped Hulu as it was just awful. Found that we didn't miss it at all. Plenty on Netflix and Amazon, really no need for anything else.

Aboslutely not. I won't allow it in the house. Nothing with commercials or that "just plays whatever is on." I told the cable company that even for $1 I wouldn't hook up cable. I'm not even interested in having it available as a temptation. I've not had the ability to get any kind of network television (because I don't buy or hook up TV tuners) for twenty years. I see it once in a while when visiting people or in a hotel and am so thankful it's not available to me at home.

Yeah, honestly I forget that it exists for the most part. I don't know anyone my age that uses it either.

And we're a generation apart so that's a big swathe of people. My parent's still do it but it's very much a background noise thing.

My dad does, he's in his 70s. But he does it via a card that streams to his computer and he DVRs it so that it is as disconnected from traditional television as possible and the commercials are removed.

poor choice of words on my part - I assume you don't want any shows that are from network television. i.e. SEAL TEAM. Seal Team isn't on Amazon or Netflix yet, so your only option is Hulu or OTA.

Just Netflix and Amazon here, we dropped Hulu as it was just awful. Found that we didn't miss it at all. Plenty on Netflix and Amazon, really no need for anything else.

So you don't want network television at all then? I wouldn't be surprised if you say correct.

I really don't know anyone my age that watches network television when it is broadcast. Other then live sports of course.

right, but they do watch the shows - which requires either OTA or cable or hulu or streaming from the channel's website to watch the current season.

But for Scott, OTA and streaming from channel's site would be out due to commercials, and he said he's not using Hulu. so now, at a minimum, he's time shifting it a season waiting for it to arrive on Netflix or Amazon, or he's not watching them at all.
again, wouldn't be surprised in any case.
