They are the throwawayables. Less than consumer grade. I don't even have to look at the Amazon reviews to know there will be a lot of bad ones. If you want to buy a new one every 6-9 months due to bad quality... sure then it's worth it.

This isn't a real product? I put one in my cart and it says it's shipping in 7-9 days... Click the right arrow over at the top and you can see more configurations, one being 16GB RAM, i7, etc.
OMG, worst site ever. I've spent so much time using different paths to bad Dell data. Okay, with that extra info, there is an XPS that you can buy that does have 16GB of RAM, but it has only half the CPU power of the Inspiron that comes with a generation newer CPU at less then two thirds the cost. The XPS looks to be left over stock and the price is just absurd. If I was shocked by the low cost of the Inspiron, now I'm shocked by the high cost of the XPS.

Same issues there. All of those are 7th Gen, whereas at least one (and only one) of the newer ones is 8th Gen. The weird availability of specs on the XPS are so confusing. Why is there only one model with 16GB, and why only one with the upgraded processor, and why can't you get the two together?

Ugh, Dell's website sucks. I was just looking at an 8th gen processor with the option of 16GB of RAM. I went to a different page and the back button doesn't work. Let me see if I can find it again.

Wtf Dell... I typed in the part number and it only shows 7th Gen i7 with 16GB of RAM now. I concede you win looks like they don't have that option.

And the weird "show it sometimes and not others" makes me think more and more they've discontinued a bunch of stuff and are living off of stocks.

Well $1199 for home edition, or $1249 for Window Pro - still not super cheap.. just very reasonable for an i-7.
Only thing missing in my mind is the fingerprint reader.

@scottalanmiller basically any clevo reseller has those models, so you can find the one colser to you (duties).
btw for personal experience nothing is as solid as a dell/hpe/lenovo enterprise lines chassis-wise. Clevo stuff is nice but a bit more weak. -

Just keep in mind that Intel are releasing their 8th Gen on 5th October. By releasing, I mean the big product launch with the fanfare and propaganda etc.
