Im not sure they lose their credibility.
Exchange Online/Outlook 365 seems to go down for some people once a week, yet people still flock to pay 4x the price for it.

Four times the price as what? Only Rackspace offers email at 1/4 the price of O365. O365 is cheaper than Gmail.

The word "licensing" doesn't appear anywhere on the linked status page.

"The firm later identified the root cause of the networking issues, as being due to a licensing issue with a third party vendor over its cloud balancers."

I'll have to look again when I get home. I search for the text licensing on that page and Firefox found nothing.

4x the price compared to what? some non exchange service? RS is only $1/u/m for the SW or inside knowledge folks.. and even that isn't true anymore I don't think.. I think they upped the price. And worse, RS also just got rid of the ActiveSync option for non Exchange users.

Yeah. I thought licensing was also supposed to be mentioned at the link that was posted in the article, which it isn't.

Oh, no, it was the article itself.

I used the article to reiterate to my superiors that "licensing matters"

And licensing is a risk, one that needs to be factored in to buying decisions.

I often point out to people discussion Windows and Linux that they often do a cost comparison and figure that they are pretty close... but leave out licensing which is by far the biggest cost and risk of windows. They forget the time and risk in determining needs, record keeping, upkeep, monitoring, audits, fines, etc.
