Don't forget if you can to help Jim out. I can't imagine his expenses to fight all of this right now. http://fnd.us/91CvBd?ref=sh_96SYSd
Can someone add another tag or two? scam and donate
Done.
Great, I'll be able to find it when I get home tonight

I wanted to drop everyone a quick update. The case is still pending the initial hearing. We are really in a holding patter until then. We still need more funds for the legal battle. That is about all I can really say at the moment since everything is still pending.
I can't thank everyone enough for the support we are receiving from various communities and social feeds. Please continue to spread the word about the fund raising efforts on FundRazr.com.

Thanks,
Jim

Thanks for the update. Got the site shared on Twitter, G+ and Facebook.

While there is still no update, I wanted to share a new story on MSPMentor.net with commentary from the arresting detective.

http://mspmentor.net/managed-services/msp-denies-destroying-office-365-data-nonpayment-flapβSo he canβt withhold their property,β Karic continued. βHe can withhold the service of it.β
Um, of course, and the service included the storage of it. Sounds like the sheriff's office just stated why it was proper to dispose of the data.
-
Sounds like, from the article, that Karic did nothing to validate the claims and arrested without even attempting to verify evidence? But from Karic's own statements, even if there was evidence, it would not matter as the storage was the service and they didn't pay so there was no need to continue the service.
We'd need Karic's own versions to know, but MSP Mentor paints a pretty solid picture of corruption and crime in Forsythe County's sheriff's office. I bet we would find someone in the sheriff's office related to someone making money at the Chamber of Commerce.

Found a picture of the sheriff...

Honestly Jim, when this guy signed the contracts at the chamber of commerce, you should have known to have been wary.

If you had ever been to Forsyth, you'd know how dead on this is.

@RojoLoco I've not been, and I still know

Any update on this?

Last I knew he was still waiting to hear anything at all. The town is stalling

That's how these things work. No need to have a real case, drive a business out of business using the legal system as a weapon. No due process, no need to even go to court.

Serious reminder that corrption in America, having to pay off local officials, is just the same as it is in the third world.

I didn't believe this until working at the law firm I work at now that mainly defends businesses. It is absolutely horrible what happens to businesses, especially SMBs.

Yeah, there is no protection for ordinary people in America. The law isn't there to protect people, it is a weapon of the rich and powerful.

We are unfortunately becoming more and more a police state ...
