Exchange Online Migration From POP3

Odd...I've not touched DNS at all today...about 10 minutes ago, no one on POP3 can send/receive from Outlook...the POP3 provider is up, webmail is done, IMAP is done...just POP3 in Outlook...dead in the water and of course, people are blaming the conversion to Exchange...
Probably just a service blip.

Agreed.

Quirks today...a few people on their new profile will have their internal emails sent to the Exchange account and for those still on the POP3 profiles, they do nto get them, so, I really can't let anyone work on the new O365 profile today...no problem, I switch back to the POP3 profile...the problem I have now, you can select the old profile, hit APPLY and OK and load Outlook and it goes to the Exchange profile...you tell it to prompt you for a profile...you choose POP3, it loads Exchange...any suggestion here? I've gotten a few to work after going back and forth between the two profiles...I do not want to delete the Exchange profile as I will use it tonight...

I'm not sure what you mean?
Are you saying that people who are sending messages from their new Oiffice 365 account, the people still on the old don't get the messages - OK yeah you're right, I didn't think of that (uhhh sorry - Looks like Jared's is really the only right way to do this - keep delivering everything to the PST and simply have the O365 as a separate box until the MX cut over).
The people still on the old won't get new messages sent from converted people, but those new messages are staying solely inside Office 365,

No sweat man...major learning experience...the thing is, your method is good...I will just create these new profiles but not RUN from them until tonight. The problem is now the aforementioned issue where Outlook is not detecting the Profile you want with out selecting between them, APPLY and OK a few times...
We didn't have really any issues but glad I've not had any issues...my boss is nervous about LOST e-mails but as long as the POP3 is sending to exchange during the MX records exchange, we should be good.
SO today, I will complete the profiles but keep them on the old one (provided Outlook doesn't keep quirking out on me)...tonight at 7PM, change MX records...wait...and wait and wait...test test test as it propagates...

What version of Outlook are you on?
does a reboot (or at least a log off/back on) make any difference? -

does a reboot (or at least a log off/back on) make any difference?Mostly 2013, some 2010...the workaround...before testing the Exchange Profile, do not set it as default...set to PROMPT each time, set up the Exchange Profile as you described and then exit out Outlook, set the old POP3 as default, start and we are good.
I did a test PST import to an O365 account and it works...slow during the import and upload but it works and puts management as ease...
-
Quick update...did the MX records but funny, my PC is having problems autoconfiguring to O365...just my PC...keeps saying Connection to Microsoft Exchange is unavailable or an encrypted server is not found...
Rebooted, repair installed Office 2013...nothing...any clue?

Oh, it was my dang PC...earlier today, I had an issue with a Windows 8 app not installing...one of the "solutuions" was to type netsh winhttp set proxy 192.168.1.1:8888...anything Microsoft is not talking to the internet...I am not all that good with netsh...how do I reverse this?

C:\Windows\system32>netsh

Thanks for the unrelated late night help...well, my migrations appears to be going well...MX records updated, email flowing to new Exchange...may being PST imports late Saturday...
-
hey, it takes a village
-
and the night's not late yet
-
Well, things look good.... I've checked the old POP3 server and nothing is flowing there anymore and all going to Exchange.
-
Awesome news!

Things are GREAT today...someone with a 20GB PST file was grumbling at the time it took to import and then Outlook went "not responding" for a while but other than that and some profile complaints (people needing to change views, personalizations, etc.), this went very smooth...
To everyone...your help was invaluable and we have a knowledge base now on this. Can't thank you enough...

The bad news is there is an O365 outage of sorts and I may be affected:
Current Status: Engineers have determined that by design, an automated recovery feature took the appropriate action to restore service health. Engineering are monitoring service health at this time.
Customer Impact: Affected customers may be unable to access the Exchange Online service.
Incident Start Time: Monday, August 25, 2014 at 2:30 PM UTC
Next Update: Monday, August 25, 2014 at 5:30 PM UTC
I have about 5-6 users who cannot send/receive emails right now...at first, I thought it may be the sync with their PST's I imported. Now, I wonder if it is this issue.
