-
I'm writing my dissertation for my masters degree on competition in the IT industry. A requirement of this is to produce some primary data and then analyse it. I have created a short survey about the criteria IT Pro's use to make decisions on the technology they choose/ buy.
If you can take a few minutes (should take about 6 min--this is the avg time spent so far) to fill it in, I would really appreciate the help.
There are 32 statements and you rank your level of agreement. Then there is a box to add any additional comments.Many thanks.

Qualtrics is a nice survey platform.
So much nicer than some of the others.
(My company does market research. )

@BRRABill
Yeah, it's very good so far. I'm just going through it and getting a feel for the functionality and what I can do with it. -

Any idea on price for qualtrics?
"Q6. Future product development (road map) and new products are very important in choosing a solution"
This is 2 questions in one.
I disagree with the idea that a company has to make a new product to be important, but I do agree with having a road map.
-
@Breffni-Potter I'm not sure on the price--I have a temporary license through the university for my masters.
Thanks to all who have filled in the survey so far---very much appreciated!
I'm going to have some great data to analyse. -
I've filled it out for you.

LOL...
Problems with surveys like this.... what we already know about the IT field is that most IT Pros that we encounter cannot identify a reseller. So a question like this provides meaningless results because you don't know if they know what you mean.
-
Top three? Some would define this as the best three. Others as the three that make the most money. Others as the three that are best known. You need to refine this question, I definitely only choose from the best, but never from the biggest. So anyone answering this question has to guess at what you mean and the answer could be randomized.

Just finished the poll.

Thanks for the feedback--very helpful. Unfortunately I can't adjust the questions at this point in order to maintain the integrity of whole survey. But I will keep that in mind and list that in the limitations of my study. Many thanks. -
Thanks very much to everyone who has filled this out.
Much appreciated! -

But I will keep that in mind and list that in the limitations of my study. Many thanks.IT Polls are often like this. It's a major problem in the industry, the amount of industry knowledge needed to make a poll often means you already have better insight than the poll can provide anyway. Polls rely on people being honest, knowing themselves (things that people are very bad at) and everyone agreeing on the questions' intent or meaning. Some people answer literally, some assume you meant something that wasn't said, etc.

It would be nice to see the results of the poll after you are done with it.

@dafyre

Thanks to all those who participated in this survey. Your help was much appreciated and gave me a great deal of good data to analyse for my paper.
Sorry it has taken me so long to get back here to post my results, but here they are.
Thanks again.

@JPLS - Are there any further stats such as location? Number of submitters? etc.
