What are you holiday traditions?
-
So this year is my first real Christmas celebrating. I, personally, will not be putting up a tree or lights, etc. Mostly because $$ but I was curious what everyone's holiday traditions are? I know we are represented by several groups in here. So, being someone that has no traditions, and will spend the next few years establishing my own, I'm curious what everyone else does for the holidays? Do you always go a certain place? Eat a certain food? Do some thing? A coworker made stockings for everyone over the weekend, and here's my first Christmas stocking!
Thanks,
A.J.

Our traditions:
Decorate for Christmas day after Thanksgiving (I love all the pretty lights more than anything).
Eggnog as often as I can have it (prefer the non-alcoholic version)
Candy Canes also as often as I can have them
Christmas Eve: Dinner with in-laws Linguini with Clam Sauce or home made Alfredo sauce, garlic bread, broccoli and Strawberry Shortcake for dessert. Then we open gifts and play a game usually.
Christmas Day: Cinnamon Rolls for breakfast with eggs, bacon and home fries. Then off to my families for lunch (though not this year). Then to see whatever awesome movie is out in December. This year is Rouge One (darn I have to wait like a week to see it).
Christmas Evening: Invite friends over to snack and play board games or watch movies. -

Christmas Stockings always have: Chocolate, Tooth Brush, Flash lights and some crazy stupid fidget toy. -
I do stuff with family on the 24th/25th, eating, gifts, etc., then xmas day evening begins "friendsmas", where the whole crew gathers at my neighbor's house for heavy boozing and usually a bonfire. There is always great food and loud music, and it's the best way to decompress after the family stuff.

That sounds like my family minus the boozing. So much fun!

- 06: Nikolaus (just exchanging small gifts, some sweets and maybe getting a table at a good restaurant)
- Decorating the house roughly 2 weeks before Christmas
- Getting the tree the week before Christmas-
- 23: Decorating the tree
- 24: Doing stuff with my family, large family dinner, playing games, ...
- 24: Exchanging gifts at ~9pm
- 25: Another half day with (my) family
- 25: Trying to get home, pumping the stomach (way too much great food and sweets), meeting some very close friends
- 26: Meeting my wifes family
- 27 - 30: Recovering
And like every year, I will try to get in the cellar with my dad to work on some projects. That never works, we'll get interupts every few minutes

We watch White Christmas every year.

I live in Bedford Falls (Seneca Falls) from the movie, It's A Wonderful Life. http://therealbedfordfalls.com/ So in addition to our family traditions, we'll be checking out some of the events down town.
-
@Mike-Davis That is an actual town? Had no idea.
Never understood why they show It's a Wonderful Life 3 weeks before Christmas.
Awww, 503 error.

@PackMatt73 recommended A Christmas Horry Story. Gonna probably check it out.
-
My wife watches the live action Grinch movie basically everyday from the day after Thanksgiving until New Years... Other then that our traditions got thrown out the window this year.
Next year we're going all out for Emilia's second Christmas (since she'll know kind of what's going on).

Is that the anthology one I saw on Netflix recently?

He asked me if I had Netflix, so I'm assuming yes. But I don't know for sure. It's Santa vs Krampus, from what I'm to understand.

He said it was phenomenal. I'm usually inclined to trust him, as his judgment has rarely failed me.
