D-Link DSR-250n router port configuration
-
Is anyone running a D-Link router? (and will admit it) I have a client with a D-Link DSR-250N at two branch offices. I'm trying to route from an Ubiquiti EdgeRouter lite, but I need an IP on a port besides the main LAN port on the DSR and I can't see how to configure an IP on another port. It does support creating another VLAN on another port, and it does allow inter VLAN routing. Is that how it is done in the D-Link world? (I know the obvious answer is to replace the D-Links with Ubiquiti, but I'm trying to avoid that.)

Why? What's your time worth? This seems like the right solution to me.

Have not used one. Kind of consumer or consumer-ish gear. So cheap to replace, I agree that the price factor alone is probably not worth the discussion.

Ubiquiti EdgeRouter ER-X $61.49
Ubiquiti Unifi AP $57.99I am guessing that is less then 1 hour of your time.
P.S. You can also save them a lot of time by working with known hardware.

I agree. My first reaction was like EdgeRouter Lites are under $100, just go pick one up for each branch and be done with it. I thought I would post lest someone say, "all you have to do it click the advanced tab" or something.

If it was good gear or well known gear, it might have made sense. But D-Link stuff isn't worth saving.

Preach it!
I know a lot of people like D-Link, but I had issues with multiple pieces of equipment from D-Link a long time ago and have refused to ever look at it since.
I know that is honestly bad on my part, as I should not rule something out forever, but with all the newer option, just no reason to ever go back to it.
