        Even asking them is silly. If they were forced to participate they are also forced to not disclose it.

          This is basic spy stuff, right? Also, even if they did cooperate, they have to say they didn't.

            Right. For all we know, everyone one if us has been contacted by the NSA. None of us are ever allowed to tell each other, though.

              very true, it is smart from a PR perspective to deny deny deny, however we all know that it happened and they have now been caught. I am interested to know if any other major providers are going to be outed for doing something similar.

                It's not PR. It's the law. It is illegal for them to admit. So the truth isn't a factor. If it didn't happen, they would deny. If it did happen they would deny. Denial is the only legal option.

                      So many businesses never patch their external-facing routers, so this would be a cakewalk in many cases.
