Moved my PBX in a Flash VM from one host to another without dropping a call.

Was doing some updates to the Hyper-V servers in my datacenter and decided to move my PBX in a Flash system from HV2 to HV1 just, well because I wanted to. I've moved virtual machines around before, but I had never tried to do it with an active call.
So I called myself on a test extension and then began the move process.
The call never dropped. I did lose audio for about 4 seconds when the final cutover happened, but it came back by itself.
Here is the post move screenshot. Note the VM is running only 18 seconds, but the call is nearly 8 minutes.

I'd say that is a good bit of information to have, but who is going to be moving PBX VM's midday?

You would be surprised how many SMB IT departments actually seek to do this so that they can do all of their hardware maintenance during prime business hours. Unlike MSPs, lots of SMB IT internal won't work weekends or evenings and set up these types of systems specifically for "during the day" load balancing.

For me it was good to know that it works that smoothly, not because I plan to ever move one during the day. But because if I HAVE to move one during the day, I will be confident that it will work.

Yup, great test to do. Just not something I would advice as a day to day production practice when there is no necessity. But when you need it, it's great to have.

You did notice I up-voted your post? I was just messing with ya. Yeah, that was a valuable test, for sure.
