Indonesian volcano erupts blue lava

I saw this go by on my Facebook Feed from IFL Science. A volcano in Indonesia appears to be erupting blue lava, because the lava is flowing over sulfur deposits.
This creates a gorgeous but eerie blue color, as when sulfur burns at 600 degrees C, it produces blue flames.
Burning sulfur is murder on the respiratory system, so hopefully this chick is wearing a gas mask.

Yes, I'd love to see this in person, although I'm pretty excited that we may get to see regular old red / orange lava in person! I had always wanted to visit an active volcano. So freaking cool.

I love nature and awe inspiring things such as volcanoes of any color... but am I not the only person whose first thought was "I wonder who pushed the smurfs in?"

@dafyre Umm... yeah that thought had not occurred to me. Perhaps because I loved the Smurfs growing up, and wouldn't naturally picture them being murdered by lava.
