There is no special!
Special means broken

@gjacobse And you always will remember them! It's been a while since I swapped to software engineering and I STILL remember certain names....

I have actually found a user who's been skipping updates. . . damn it. . .
How does the user avoid the updates? Are they actually the admin?

No, but they take the equipment with them, and when the issue gets pushed they fall to their manager to yell at us. . .
But I've got the system updating now.

Soon, hopefully, Sodium will be able to monitor, alert and manage that

This is why I posted cause there is always one....
This is why no one should shun an informational post. It's actually fairly idiotic to do so as there are ALWAYS one offs. You have to deal with the fact that there will always be the end user factor. For anyone here to think their environment is perfect and so are their users is laughable.
I hope you did not consider my post to be a showing of this post in general. It wasn't. It was really making fun of people who can't be bothered to keep their computer is up to date and then wind that they have problems when they apply a future update.

Thank for this reminder, I have had the same issue with multiple Mac Users either the Microsoft AutoUpdate does not work or the user does not update. Usually most issues with Exchange and Outlook for Mac are fixed by an Update of the Microsoft Office suite.

Having users that leave the office with their laptops = updates being pushed off etc. pretty often. Can't wait for a good way to monitor this stuff aka SODIUM (man they really do need to come up with a better name for that).

Where there no other products you could use to monitor this? or the client wasn't willing to pay for it?

Of course they aren't willing to pay for it... story of smb life.

Then why are you worrying about it? I'm assuming they aren't willing to pay to have you monitor Sodium either.

For my own sanity I would. However again they only pay when they need me and an emergency clean up is more $$ for me so... while I would rather do it right in the first place and not have to scramble to fix it. They do make it worth my while.

Exactly, so deploying Sodium isn't what the customer wants. Should you offer it to them - heck yes. Say something like - hey we can offer this great new inexpensive service, for $200 or so a month, we'll monitor all of your machines. If we see one outside of updates, or whatever in this given timeline, we'll either automatically go on the clock and fix it, or we'll notify you and schedule time to fix it. But the monitoring shouldn't be free. They are just lucky that the tool to do the monitoring can be free.
