      @Dominica

The dell 2n1 one - while it does not have a internal DVD drive is pretty decent on speed, size, weight and storage.

How much storage does she need?

The bigger the screen, the more weight you have.

There is no need to have a DVD drive in this day and age.

@dominica is cooking so I'm relaying messages as I can see the kitchen from here.

She just said "with storage", so likely 128GB is more than enough. If it is less than that, we might need to check.

            I think 13.3" - 14" is likely ideal.

              That's my opinion.

Asus has a few options in their ZenBook line...

Who knows, maybe the newer units are OK, but I had one many years ago. at the 13 month mark it stopped booting correctly. I had to take the bottom off and physically unplug the battery to get it to work. Even that stopped working after a few weeks.

Yeah I'll never buy another one of those.

                    Additional questions:

                    • New / Used?
                    • PC or MAC?
                    • What level of use? basic 'office' use or more involved.

Mac would be okay but probably pretty costly for running Windows 10.

I have an ASUS and I love it. It's a 15.4 inch with touchscreen, but the quality is very nice and I've never had any issues with it. I'm a fan of their stuff.

                        Just my 2 cents.

This doesn't have a DVD drive, but it does have a whole lot of goodies for the price:

                          Dell Latitude e7440

I'm partial to the HP Spectre x360. The Dell XPS 13 really looks sharp, but I haven't worked with it.

In the ultra light category the MBAs are fairly competitive price wise.

we have about 500 of the e7440 and e7450's in service. they all have quality control issues. We are working to get dell to refund them before legal gets involved.

It sounds like the requirements fall into the pick any two scenario. (cheap was not mentioned)

I've used a few that fit into this category
                                      Asus Zenbook, Samsung Series 9, MacBook 11 & 13

In terms of what lasted, the MacBook was the most resiliant. The others started to fall apart after the constant back and forth, travelling etc. Look for a used MacBook Air would be my recommendation.
